Announcing the 2018 Winner of SMPS Oregon's Scholarship Program

Congratulations to Nicole Haman, CPSM, LEED AP for being chosen as the first recipient of SMPS Oregon’s Lynn Parsons Educational Scholarship.

Nicole started her career in A/E/C marketing over 11 years ago as a marketing assistant for a local contractor. She currently works on the marketing and business development team at AKS Engineering & Forestry (AKS). You may know her as the Senior Marketers Roundtable or CPSM Boot Camp facilitator.

When asked how SMPS has benefited her career, Nicole had this to say: “More than anything, SMPS has helped me grow my network exponentially. SMPS has always been a great place for me to find peers with whom I've been able to build a professional support network. Working with my peers in these more intimate settings has helped me foster relationships and has created more opportunities for me to participate in and contribute to SMPS in meaningful ways. I've also benefited from the opportunity to obtain my CPSM certification. Obtaining my CPSM certification has raised my standing with AKS, peers, and the general public. It has also provided me with valuable knowledge in marketing planning and research, marketing planning, business development, promotion, and marketing management that I have used frequently over the last couple of years.”

With her scholarship, Nicole with attend Portland State University’s Center for Executive and Professional Education.

The purpose of this scholarship fund is to fulfill our organization’s vision to transform business through marketing leadership. The SMPS Oregon Board of Directors created the Lynn Parsons Educational Scholarship to provide current chapter members with the opportunity to pursue ongoing professional development. The scholarship is named in remembrance of the late Lynn Parsons, who was a beloved ambassador of our marketing community. We will open up the application process again in early 2019. If you’re interested in applying, please read the Scholarship Program page on our website for more information. Applications for the Fall/Winter 2018 scholarship were judged by four SMPS Chapter presidents from outside of the Oregon Chapter, along with SMPS Oregon’s current president, Christina Blaser.
