How did you get into a career in A/E/C marketing? And what do you do at your current firm?

I started my career in A/E/C marketing a little over a year a half ago as an intern for my current firm. I got started through the MECOP Program at Oregon State University. I started out in my role doing mostly administrative activities and gradually started taking on more responsibilities. Now most of my time is spent working with our team of skilled engineers crafting proposals to respond to our clients’ needs, creating compelling copy for social media posts, and helping to organize event sponsorships within the A/E/C industry.

What do you think is the most valuable benefit of being an SMPS member?

The most valuable benefit is the support from a strong community and network of experienced marketers. SMPS has given me many opportunities for growth and continued education and has given me a place to expand my skills through holding a position on a committee.

What is your favorite local restaurant?

This is a tough one since eating is possibly one of my favorite pastimes. One of my favorite spots in Portland is Modern Times Brewery off of Belmont — check them out for a burger or Rueben and an amazing beer (bonus, it is all vegan!).

If the zombie apocalypse was coming, who are three people you’d want on your team?

1 — Lady Gaga, I mean have you seen her in American Horror Story? I bet she could kick some zombie butt. 2 — Josh Duhamel, he was great in Transformers and if I’m going to die I need something nice to look at. 3 — My mom, no explanation needed.
