Member Spotlight: Samantha Jordan

How did you get into a career in A/E/C marketing? What is your current role?

I worked for an advertising firm and went on maternity leave in 2006 where I began taking on freelance clients. Emerick was one of my clients. Over the next few months, I worked closely with Corey Lohman (now current President) to help develop a marketing plan for their Special Projects Group (SPG). From there, I found myself fully immerged in Emerick’s marketing and made the transition from consultant to fulltime Marketing Director in 2010. My current role - Director of Business Development and Marketing.

How long have you been a member of SMPS?

What do you think is the most valuable benefit of being a member? I have been a member of the Oregon chapter since 2011, but attended events prior to that. As a member, I think the most valuable part of SMPS is two-fold: professional development for new marketers to the A/E/C industry and networking opportunities.

If you could give one piece of advice to a new marketer in the A/E/C industry, what would it be?

My advice is always be genuine in your efforts and treat everyone like your number one client.

What is one of the wildest things on your bucket list?

Courtside tickets to the NCAA Final Four.

What movie can you watch over and over again? 

Ferris Bueller’s Day-off or Better Off Dead – Ok, I just dated myself.
