Chapter Scholarships

Throughout the year, SMPS Oregon offers several scholarships to chapter members as a way to give back to our membership. These are the following scholarships available for the 2020/21 year:

Membership Dues COVID Impact Grant

We’re in this together.

SMPS Oregon members are the lifeblood of our organization, and it has been painful to watch many of our friends lose their jobs or had their hours and benefits cut back due to COVID-19. As the only organization dedicated to creating business opportunities in the A/E/C industry, we stand with you during these trying times, and we thank you for your commitment to the built community.

We’re here to help.
To those affected by layoffs and downsizing: SMPS Oregon supports you and wants to help. SMPS Oregon’s 2020/21 Board of Directors created the Membership Dues Grant Program to make sure our chapter and the A/E/C industry does not lose the valuable marketing and business development talent our businesses need.

There are two types of grants: A member’s grant and a member firm’s grant.

Members will receive their membership fees ($399) paid for directly to SMPS HQ for one full year. Firms who have a SMPS Oregon member can apply to receive a grant that will cover 50% of the membership fees ($199).
Who is eligible for a member grant or firm grant?
If you are a current SMPS Oregon member who has recently been laid off from your full-time job and are unable to renew your SMPS membership due to financial hardship, you may be eligible to have your membership fees covered for one full year with the SMPS Oregon Membership Dues Grant. Your membership must be recently expired within the last three months (August – November 2020).
For member firms that have experienced financial hardship due to COVID and can no longer cover the full amount of their employee’s SMPS membership, we have established a grant to pay for 50% of their membership dues.

Leora Casey CPSM Scholarship

The Leora Casey Memorial Scholarship was created to honor a long-standing member of the Oregon SMPS Chapter. Leora Casey was a significant part of the Oregon chapter and participated in many programs and processes that helped shape the chapter. She had a passion for the A/E/C industry and the pursuit of consistently improving fellow marketer’s roles within their firms, she was a force to be reckoned with. It is with great sadness that Leora passed away in November of 2014, a huge loss for our chapter.

Part of Leora’s endeavors was championing the CPSM certification program within SMPS and mentoring other marketers. She co-chaired the CPSM study program for many years and helped raise the bar for standards among the program. To honor Leora’s dedication to SMPS Oregon and the CPSM program, the chapter has introduced the Leora Casey CPSM Scholarship. The SMPS Oregon Chapter will reimburse the CPSM exam fee ($275) for members.*

*SMPS Oregon will reimburse members up to 6 months after passing the exam.
